Faqs

+ Can I have a free assessment and quote?

Yes we provide a free no obligation quote on request with a suggested programme of treatment and results.

+ What about my plants, pets and children – is it dangerous?

A full health and safety and risk assessment will be conducted before work begins to ensure everyone and everything is fully protected from potential hazards. The working area will be taped off and access restricted with clear warning signs. A generous pre soaking of plants and protection with a horticultural fleece combined with the careful targeted application of the softwash product will ensure your plants remain undamaged. In his spare time Adrian volunteers as a Community First Responder covering East Horsley and nearby villages and always has a comprehensive first aid kit available in case of emergencies.

+ Who can I talk to?

Please contact us on any of the contact details supplied and we will respond to your inquiry immediately.

+ How long does it take?

Most treatments can be completed in one day with an immediate improvement in appearance visible depending on the surface and method of treatment. Some surfaces such as roof tiles will continue to improve in appearance over a period of time as the treatment continues to work over the following months. Dark discolouration can take a few months to disappear completely and reveal true the appearance of the tile colour.

+ How long will it remain clean?

On roofs some light green can reoccur about four years after treatment especially on a moist north facing roof with nearby trees. Patios and decking can benefit from a regular annual maintenance treatment to keep them permanently clean.

+ Do your staff hold a valid DBS certificate?

Yes our staff have a valid Enhanced Criminal Record Certificate which is a more stringent check applied when working with children and vulnerable people.

+ How are pressure/jet washing and softwashing different?

Pressure washing uses water directed at pressure to remove contaminants from a surface. It does have a place in cleaning as it will help prepare a surface for softwashing and our specialized equipment allows us to adjust the pressure to suit the task. But on its own it will leave the roots and spores of the surface contanimants alive and ready to reproduce and re-colonise the surface. With Softwashing, custom blended cleaning solutions are applied to the surface by use of special, low pressure pumps. The pressure is about the same as that of a garden hose supply. It is the cleaning solution that does all the work.

+ What is a biofilm?

A Biofilm is a film of microorganisms, comprising one or combinations of algae, mould, fungi, mildew, yeasts, and protozoa, growing on building surfaces and multiplying photosynthetically. Because they flourish favourably on porous surfaces with some degree of dampness and sustaining minerals present, building exteriors and wall finishes tend to be vulnerable to biofilm colonisation. On the outside, they taint the appearance of the surfaces they infect, reducing their water repelling ability, and soon, through relentless metabolic activities and constant growth, they begin to work their way inward to degrade the structural integrity of the parts affected.

+ How do you Softwash a roof?

Where ever possible we will avoid actually going onto the roof area working either from the ground or gutter line using carbon poles to remove debris such as moss and then accurately spraying the roof area with product. Where roof access is required we will use either a mobile tower or a ladder system which will not damage the roof surface.
